A ‘Truley’ Stylish Wedding

Featuring two of the BEST venues London has to offer, this wedding was already shaping up to be a stylish London wedding to remember, and once I saw the list of suppliers and I knew I couldn’t say no! From the off these guys were all about the party, most especially from their incredible band choices (big up to @officiallkpryme and Married to the Music) and all the fun planned – I couldn’t wait to get started!

An Emotional Moment for Mum

Having rented a huge middle terrace AirBnB in Elephant and Castle for prep, Truley and Rob were only 20 minutes from The Asylum Chapel. With the sun shining and hair and make-up being done, Truley really had the Bride Vibe down with her white silk and feathery PJ’s. After we got the doors open and the tunes blaring, and we did some cool flat lays with her details and their stationary, taking advantage of the 70’s vibe furniture, Truley then took me upstairs to her dress and accessories (a SPECTULAR sun and moon tiara and the funkiest of gold shoes). When she showed me her veil, I definitely had a teary moment … embroidered on the veil, in her mums handwriting, was ‘Never Forget, I Love You Millions, Mum xxx’ from the last birthday card Truley received before her mum passed away. A beautiful tribute to the bond between mother and daughter, and way to have her mum close on her wedding day. 

Once Powder Blue Artistry had finished perfecting hair and make-up and Truley got into her incredible dress by Halo and Wren Bridal from & FOR LOVE, we had some peaceful bridal portraits before doing a first look between Father and Bride, allowing Truley’s dad to feel all his emotion in private. A beautiful moment to witness and be a part of. 

After the much celebrated first look with her bridesmaids, we hoped into the Lil & Blue – Truley, her dad and I got to ride in style to The Asylum Chapel. 

We’re Going to the (Asylum) Chapel, And We’re Gonna Get Married ????

Taking full advantage of the glorious sunny September day, we waited outside for the bridesmaids to arrive and chatted with the celebrant, India. Once inside, as everyone was finding their seats, India asked the guests make this an unplugged ceremony but passed on a request from the couple – for everyone to take a selfie and to send it to the couple. I love this! It meant the couple was able to have a picture of everyone who was there and of them looking their absolute best!

The groomsmen were the first to make their cool entrance through the main doors (more of a cool strut if you ask me), followed shortly by Rob and his mum. After a quick hug and kiss, Rob stood patiently as the bridesmaid made their way down the aisle, each one looking striking in their stylish, black dresses and their extraordinary colourful bouquets by Blossom & Threads. Clasping her dad’s hand, Truley then made her way, beaming, towards her soon to be husband. Rob’s face lit up as soon as he saw her – if ever you were to describe the look of love, it’s when a bride and groom see each when walking up the aisle, and Rob’s really was a look full of love! Giving a quick kiss to her dad, Truley and Rob stood together as the Ring Warming started. What I love about a Ring Warming is that it’s an old tradition with Irish origins, the rings are passed through the hands of each guest so that the couple’s family and friends can infuse the rings with love and blessings. 

As most of the guests weren’t used to a celebrant led ceremony, it was such a breath of fresh air to see them experience the story telling of the celebrant when she recounted the story of Rob and Truley’s relationship. Tales of how they met and their travels together was followed by a poem read out by all 6 of the bridesmaids. Truley and Rob then made a personal promise to each other, as the rings made their way back to the couple. After the rings had been exchanged and the signing completed, India bought the couple back to the centre finally announcing them officially as Husband and Wife and to have that sensational first kiss! Fist pumping their way up the aisle, they stopped for a quick kiss in the middle before leaving with a glass of champagne. 

Truley and Rob took a quiet moment whilst the guests were preparing for the confetti through – a great time for all couples to really soak up the event and enjoy the moments after becoming officially married. 

Double Decker, Drinking and Dancing!

As drinks were served at the back of the chapel and a guest book was put out to create a fingerprint tree, friends and family caught up and enjoyed the chilled vibes, then boarded an old double decker London bus, transporting them to 100 Barrington to really get the party started. 

Jade, of Hushabye Films, and I took the opportunity to take the fabulous couple our for some once in a lifetime wedding portraits. Utilising the window light against the crumbling texture of the chapel, we got Truley and Rob to get in some creative poses – more specifically taking advantages of Truleys’ EPIC split in her dress and making that focal point of most of the shots! Just before we all scooted off to reception took advantage of the iconic candle lit fireplace and got the couple to take a selfie. 

Who Says You Can’t Have Two Confetti Tunnels?!

Taking advantage of the alone time, we took the couple off for a second small portrait shoot after we got to the reception venue – a great tip I might add, as it means you don’t have to interrupt the couple at the drinks reception later. We parked the car around the corner from the entrance next to an INSANE Rainbow mural and it made the pop of contrast with Rob’s tux and the white of the dress!

Entering the venue into a second even bigger confetti tunnel, they started the reception off with a bang (more so because of the confetti cannons, but I definitely think it was the vibe of couple!), the second drinks reception had well and truly got under way with the DJ playing and cocktails on tap. Surrounded by greenery, @daydreamer_creative_studio’s banner really popped and added to the atmosphere of the reception!

Rob and Truley had a few minutes to look over their set up for their wedding breakfast, and I snuck in a third portrait shoot under the festoon lighting. Then, in true classic Mark Horton style, I found an industrial style white wash wall, which just so happened to be next to large windows – getting that natural light aesthetic. I have to say, these two really are a natural with their poses!

Time to enjoy the delicacies offered by Kitchen Party Events!

Not a Dry Eye in the House!

FOB Des was first up with the speeches, talking beautifully about Truley’s mum. I know it’s emotional when a family member can’t be part of a special day but his words really bought a tear to everyone’s eye. You could really feel the love enveloping this family on such a bittersweet day. After thanking Rob for taking such good care of his daughter, Des hugged Rob and handed the microphone over. Rob’s speech really touched on how him and Truley met and how their relationship started and grew and how special she was to him. A true dedication of love!

After the speeches were concluded by both best men giving their individual speech, the guests migrated to the changeover room.  

PARTY TIME!

Jade and I took the wedding party for some fun group bridal party pics. We found the Brixon Mural and this is where everyone got involved and really got that party energy ramped up. Bringing out the last of the confetti canons (why can’t we have constant confetti!!), we let them off celebrating the end to such epic day and then headed to dance floor for the first dance and the start of the PARTAYY!

Rob led Truley onto the dancefloor and as their friends gathered round them Truley teared up, holding her hand to her mouth, being overwhelmed that their day was almost at an end. Now it was time to really let go and enjoy the party! Though it seemed there was still one canon that hadn’t been let off … Truley in her evening outfit!! She emerged in a SPARKLY JUMPSUIT AND STARRY CAPE!! Leading the conga line with giant glowsticks, this really was all they had wanted and more! 

What an EPIC day!!
