If you’re dreaming of a wedding in London that ditches tradition, leans hard into style, and puts having the best time with your favourite people above everything else, then Charlie and Mike’s Islington Town Hall is absolute inspo gold.
This day had all the ingredients of a modern London wedding done right: iconic architecture, laid-back energy, a Route Master bus, an unhinged confetti tunnel, a dog with zero aisle discipline, and a brass band that fully crashed the dance floor. It was cool without trying, stylish without being stiff, and chaotic in the best possible way.
Charlie and Mike did things their way — and that’s exactly why it worked so bloody well.

The day kicked off in a cool Hoxton loft apartment, where Charlie got ready with her bridesmaids surrounded by big city views and relaxed energy. No timelines taped to the wall, no stress spirals — just music on, drinks flowing, and that calm-before-the-storm feeling you only get on a wedding morning in London.
Charlie’s dress was a total standout. Satin with a soft sheen, a fun statement sleeve, and a slit up the leg that gave it movement and attitude — modern, fashion-forward, and perfect for a city wedding. Paired with understated styling, it felt effortlessly cool rather than overdone.
There was a brief wobble when the Addison Lee didn’t show (because… London), but an Uber swooped in just in time. Crisis averted. Honestly? A little pre-wedding chaos feels like a rite of passage for any proper London wedding.
Meanwhile, Mike was rocking a green suit — a bold move that absolutely paid off — finished with a fun bowtie that perfectly matched the couple’s playful, stylish vibe.

The ceremony took place in the big room at Islington Town Hall, one of London’s most iconic ceremony spaces — grand, light-filled, and timeless without feeling stuffy. It’s a dream spot for couples who want their wedding photos to scream London without needing much else.
Charlie walked in with her dad, owning every step, and the ceremony itself was heartfelt, relaxed, and full of warmth. No over-the-top theatrics — just genuine moments, laughter, and that electric feeling when everyone in the room knows they’re witnessing something special.
And then came the exit.
As Charlie and Mike were pronounced married, their dog absolutely stole the show. The plan? Calm walk down the aisle. Reality? He saw his people and fully ran in to join them, tail going, vibes immaculate. Iconic behaviour. A true crowd-pleaser and a reminder that weddings are better when things don’t go exactly to plan.
We grabbed a few relaxed portraits inside the town hall — those quiet just-married moments — before heading to the grand staircase where guests lined up, champagne in hand, ready for what came next.

Outside Islington Town Hall, the celebrations kicked up a gear. Think champagne popping, city traffic rolling past, guests cheering, and one of those “this is so London” moments you can’t fake.
Then it was onto a classic red Route Master bus, which is always a power move. Guests piled on, drinks flowing, laughter echoing upstairs, and the newlyweds soaking it all in as London rolled past the windows. If you’re planning a London wedding and wondering how to move guests between venues — this is how you do it.
Destination: Shoreditch Studios.

While guests settled in at the venue, I whisked Charlie and Mike off for some portraits around Shoreditch. This is exactly why this area works so well for weddings — gritty backstreets, textured walls, cobbles, and that unmistakable East London edge.
Wedding glam against urban backdrops? Always a yes.
These portraits were relaxed, unposed, and very them. No stiff posing, just movement, laughter, and letting the city do its thing around us.
Charlie and Mike chose Shoreditch Studios because it’s a true blank canvas — and they made it their own. The space had been completely transformed: custom signage, cool styling touches, and a huge vinyl “Mr & Mrs O’Connor”graphic across the back wall that immediately set the tone.
As they arrived back, guests formed the most unhinged confetti tunnel I’ve seen in a long time. Absolute scenes. Confetti everywhere. Energy through the roof. A proper “right, let’s do this” moment.
Inside, the vibe was relaxed but intentional. Sharing tables set the tone for a social, unfussy wedding breakfast — exactly what they wanted.

Food came from Cater London, served as sharing boards during the wedding breakfast — sociable, delicious, and very on-brand for a modern London wedding. No formal fuss, just good food and good conversation.
Speeches followed and hit that perfect balance of funny and heartfelt. Laughter, a few emotional moments, and the kind of speeches that feel more like mates talking than formal performances.
Then came one of my favourite moments of the day: the Baby Guinness toast.
Mini drinks were handed out to every guest, and the entire room raised a glass together while Charlie and Mike cut the cake. Simple, fun, and such a vibe.
As the evening rolled in, Charlie switched into a short evening dress, ready for maximum movement and zero restrictions. First dance wrapped up… and then Das Brass stormed the room.
Instant chaos. In the best way.
The energy flipped from chilled to full-blown party as the brass band took over, pulling guests onto the dance floor and turning Shoreditch Studios into something closer to a gig than a wedding. Later, pizza came out, people danced with slices in hand, and no one wanted the night to end.

Charlie and Mike absolutely nailed the modern London wedding. Stylish without being stiff. Relaxed without being messy. Every choice was intentional but never overthought.
From their dog crashing the aisle, to the red bus, to the confetti madness and brass band chaos — this day was about having the best time with their people, no stress allowed.
